Born in Fort
Wayne, Indiana, Jack grew up listening to R&B and gospel. He
moved to San Diego, California at age 9. Jack started playing the
bass guitar at age 10 and keyboards at age 18, but his greatest
strength lies in his singing and songwriting. At age 21, Jack
formed the band “CLUE” and, from there released a solo project
featuring the song “Shari,” which was a smash on the local club
scene in the 1980’s.
In 1988, Jack
signed with Splt Image, an independent label based in Los Angeles,
where he worked with DJ Quik, AMG and other rap and R&B artists.
Prior to his album being completed, Jack met Tonex, then age 14,
who became like a little brother to him. Tonex’s parents invited
Jack to church, and the rest is history. Jack gave his life to
the Lord in 1988. He chose preaching and teaching God’s word over
music, and in 1994, Jack was ordained as a minister and became
assistant pastor at Full Gospel Apostolic under Bishop John
Jackson.
In 1995, Jack
moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attended God’s House under
Bishop Michael Shelby. It was at God’s House that music starting
returning to Jack’s life. He began leading songs for the choir
and also met Ernest Lee of Ernest Lee and the Disciples of David.
Although they worked on a couple of songs, Jack elected not to
pursue music outside his community since he did not feel led by
the Spirit to move.
From 1999 to
2002, due to trials and tribulations, Jack turned away from God.
Through God’s grace, however, and the prayers of others, Jack has
a brand new beginning. God has anointed and given him His
blessing to share with the world his personal testimony. He now
endeavors to encourage and strengthen others who may be going
through their own personal trials and tribulations so they, too,
can know that God can and will Hold You Up.
